River Ahja

  • Rapids and falls
  • Fishing and swimming
  • Watching birds and animals
  • Accomodation in guesthouse or warm Indian tipi
  • Indian or Finnish sauna

In a small village near town Põlva, called Süvvahavva, which means Deep Grave in Inglish, we start our rivertrips.

River Võhandu has sandstone outcrop shores, many rapids, old watermills on and one of the most interesting springs in Estonia- Märaläte (Broodmare spring) on the way. Most likely we see beavers or beaver dams on our way.

River Ahja passes some lakes and springs. There are beautiful sandstone walls with caves in it and many Estonian primordial sacred places.

River Piusa is a unique river, because it is navigable only in springtime. But the scenery is worth it- the rapiest fall in Estonia, rocky apeak sandstone walls and the ruins of bishop castle of Vastseliina (built in 1342).

Picturesque rivers, sandstone walls, primeval nature, camping, catering- all included!
