• Ilon Wikland, the author of the illustrations of Astrid Lindgren`s books, spent part of her childhood there.
• The castle of Haapsalu, its wooden houses and see have been an important unconscious inspiration for her most famous illustrations.  So, in the year 2004, the artist decided to give her original illustrations to her native land Estonia and these are all now set up for everybody to see in Haapsalu.   
• You can also see little figures of the characters, watch movies of them and there is more activity to come in near future in Ilon`s Wonderland.
• So if you want to experience something really heart-warming and have a good time with the whole family, Haapsalu is the place worth visiting. Haapsalu is about 100 km (about 60 miles) from Tallinn, Estonia`s capital.

Ilon Wikland is an Estonian-born world famous artist, who is best known for her illustrations of
many stories by Astrid Lindgren, including The Brothers Lionheart and the Children of The Noisy Village. She has had plentiful recognition for her work and has received many awards.
