Narva Castle
Narva is the most eastern city of Estonia and it is fourth largest town in the country with population around 70 000. Narva is known as border city with Russia. That is why almost all population of the town speaks in Russian. It is very difficult to hear Estonian language there.
Also Narva is the most eastern point of the European Union. Location of Narva is uniqe in Estonia - it offers a fantastic view of Estonia’s neghbour Russian Federation. Narva castle on one shore of the river, and Jaanilinna castle on the other.

Narva Castle, named as Castle of Herman, was founded in XII century by Danes on the bank of Narva river. Castle was rebuilt by Livonian Order. And today form - final form it got in 15 century. Narva castle is one of the most interesting examples of castle-stronghold architecture in Baltic States.The castle was significantly damaged during the Second World War. Restoration works started in middle of last century still go on. Since 1987 Narva Museum is housed in the restored rooms of the castle.
The 13th century castle’s visitors can choose from many of concerts and festivals or guide tours that take place in the yard and inside of the Narva castle. Besides ordinary guided tours night costumed excursions are very popular among tourists.
